"Epitaph (Эпитафия)" was composed by Rustam Abdullayev, the head of the Composer's union of Uzbekistan. He was born in 1947 at Khiva, the major south-western city of Uzbekistan (on the border of Turkmenistan). At 14 he moved to Tashkent and studied at Hamza musical school and Tashkent Conservatory, studying the composition with the prominent composers in Uzbek SSR like Albert Malakhov, Ramil Vilydanov, Boris Gienko and Boris Zeydman. He composed 5 piano concertos, opera "Sadoqat(Fidelity)" and the numerous orchestral works. The background of Epitaph is unknown, but the style is Romantic, and it is also based on the traditional Uzbek (or Khorazm) musical construction. It begins calm, with lamenting melody in the narrow intervals, then the new motif appears with the romantic triplets on the left hand (Rachmaninov-like?) . The piece gradually increases the volume and reaches the climax (Audj in Uzbek traditional music) with two characteristic clusters. After the long pause of the climax, the motif is performed again on the lower and then the piece ends in gloomy mood again. This video doesn't have any relationship to the today's incidents and doesn't have the political intent. It was recorded Oct 2021.
