Understanding online hate narratives and misinformation: Insights from CAJ’s new report. What the latest research reveals, and what NGOs, educators and communities can do. The Committee on the Administration of Justice (CAJ) recently published an important report, Mapping Far-Right Activity Online in Northern Ireland, which examines how digital platforms are used to spread misinformation, racist stereotypes, and hate narratives, particularly targeting migrants and racialised communities. In this webinar, Dessie Donnelly, the report’s lead researcher, shares key findings and reflects on their implications for the whole island of Ireland. The discussion explores how racism and sectarianism intersect online and offline, and how civic society across borders can strengthen dialogue, resilience, and trust. The event is moderated by Shannon Doherty of the Committee on the Administration of Justice. In this webinar: Hear directly from the author of CAJ’s new report on online disinformation tactics. Examine how disinformation shapes division across communities, North and South. Connect with practitioners from both jurisdictions to explore shared responses and strengthen civic resilience. Hear ideas for ongoing collaboration on disinformation, hate speech and social cohesion. This webinar is part of “Cultivating a Community of Practice: Advancing Peace and Inclusion in Ireland's Fight Against Racism and Sectarianism”, an initiative led by the Centre for Global Education and Comhlámh. The initiative aims to build cross-border collaborations and support civic society in tackling racist and sectarian narratives, while nurturing peace and reconciliation in line with the Good Friday Agreement. This webinar may be of interest to all interested in deepening understanding of peace, inclusion, disinformation, and democratic resilience. This webinar took place on Wednesday, 26th November 2025
