LSWR Adams O2 0-4-4T LSWR 209, SR E209, W24 Calbourne Built 1891, Nine Elms Starting its working life around Fratton and Exeter, the steam loco moved to the Isle fo Wight in 1925, were the locomotive gained the name Calbourne. On the Island the locomotive was fitted with Westinghouse air brake equipment and an extended coal bunker. The locomotive last until the end of steam on the island, working with W31 Chale, works trains ahead of the Ryde to Shanklin electrification. The loco was withdrawn in March 1967 when the electrification was completed and moved into the ownership of the Wight Locomotive Society, moving to Havenstreet in 1971, when then became the headquarters of the Isle of Wight Steam Railway. In this video we see the locomotive on a rear visit to mainland England and the Bluebell Railway.
