Just 33 km's northeast of Sevilla, we explore a necropolis affectionately dubbed the "Elephant Tomb," unearthed in 1881, housing over 900 family tombs! We're awestruck by the history and equally surprised by the beauty that sprouted from family drama dating back to the second century BC. We leave feeling enlightened and a tad haunted about history that never crossed our minds while exploring Spain. The old town of Carmona appears to be under the watchful eye of the Alcarzar de la Puerta de Sevilla, concealing a wonderfully quirky locale, with narrow alleyways, bustling one-way streets, and religious buildings steeped in rich history at every corner.
