This Type B Diaphone (manufactured by Gamewell) was originally used to signal box alarms for a fire department. This size was used on some Great Lakes light stations (Such as Fourteen Foot Shoal Lighthouse on Lake Huron) where the incredible power of the Type F or Type F2T diaphone was not needed. I acquired this horn in January 2022, sight unseen. The owner knew what it was, but that's it. He saw it in a junkyard and the copper resonator caught his eye. He brought it home and polished it up, then was done with it. It's come a long way since I got it...the piston was seized in the cylinder. After a lot of soaking and a little gentle persuasion, the piston came out. I cleaned everything and reassembled it all, and was invited to bring it to Kahlenberg in Two Rivers to hook into their compressed air inside their sound proof room. (Side note - this room was also where Titanic's massive steam whistles were first blown after restoration in 1999) Titanic Whistle Tests: • Titanic | The Whistle Tests (World Exclusive) Since this initial test, I have built an air compressor on a trailer and will be able to travel and sound the horn in the future. Thanks for watching! Jake
