'Maunsell Magic' | The best of preservation's Maunsell Locomotives

As we continue this dry season of steam and indeed railway action, we continue to look into the archives and this week it's the turn of the Southern Region to provide the motive-power for this video. Richard Maunsell was the SR regions CME (Chief Mechanical Engineer) after the grouping in 1923 until 1937 and in his time created many iconic locomotive designs, and in this video we will take a look at some of his engines which have made it into preservation. Locos include: S15 847 (Bluebell Railway) V Schools Class 926 'Repton' (NYMR) U Class 31806 (Swanage Railway) N15 King Arthur Class 777 'Sir Lamiel' (GCR) V Schools Class 925 'Cheltenham' (MHR) While the Corona Virus pandemic continues to effect us all individually, many preserved railways and societies are no longer open or earning the income to support them and as such they are reaching out for donations so we can continue to have the sights and sounds of steam in our lifetime.
