First match of the day, during my lunch break, no sweat, missed all the Ion laser shots, of course, but still won somehow. Enjoy (with some tech data)! The purpose of this game was actually to test my old PC in the new case and an new 240 AIO. The AIO is overkill, but I was considering a future upgrade. For more techno bubble read below: So, I had my PC in an SFX format till now, originally built in preparation for a possible consultancy contract in two parts of the world. Basically a pickup and go PC. The PC wasn't a power horse to begin with, for obvious reasons, - it is a i5-13500 (non-k, of course) and a mere Asus Dual rtx4070-OC 12Gb. I felt that while meeting the bare minimum reqs for Titanfall, the system was still choking with a smallish air cooler, even in a Formd case with two high quality static pressure fans circulating the air. Since the consultancy contract ultimately didn't go through and time was passing by with TF2 showing an occasional tearing, stuttering and feeling of lag during gaming, I decided to just check TF2 in regular and higher settings. The image and occasional tearing was there in regular setting (especially when someone shot at me), but in higher settings the CPU didn't like it. It reached 88c with some minimal upgrade to video settings. So, last two weeks I ordered some parts and I finally moved the PC into a cheapish NZXT H3 and half-finalized the "rebuild" yesterday. I added an overkill NZXT Kraken 240, mainly for future upgrades. I cranked the game to max (120 fps limit, as per nvidia site for G-Sync compatible monitors, for my MSI MAG251RX). I also switched the HDR on. Ha! Aaaand... the max temps on the CPU were 60c with a max core usage around 80%, while the GPU went to max 65c on GPU, 72c on GPU's memory junction, and 83c on GPU's hot spot. The lag was still there, but there was a massive change to me, as I was gaming. Not sure it can be seen in this video, but I did feel it. I think I can still get the temps on the GPU 1-2 degrees lower, but as I said the system is half-finalized. What does half-finalized mean? Well, for starters: NZXT's Kraken comes with 120mm fans that cannot be used eslewhere in the system with regular fan screws. I put some BQ120 SW Pro 120mm on the Kraken (these BQs are another modified and improved clones of the epic Gentle Typhoons). And I thought that I can use the NZXT fans as front intakes. But, no, the NZXT fans screw holes turned out to be designed specifically for radiator use, too large for regular fan crews. The screw holes are basically designed to use long radiator screws only. That's something new and a bummer :( the most unexpected part was the PSU. Again, for future upgrades, I decided to buy an NZXT C1000 Gold ATX3.1 (1000w, I know, I know, overkill), well reviewed by Aris. It arrived with the PCI-e 6+2 pins wired wrong: 6 pins had a curve on their metal contacts facing one direction and 2 in another. I could not use it on my RTx4070 (I had no issues with the Corsair SF750). One of the two pins on the NZXT PSU, out of those +2, is the ground (it has a square plastic housing), so you cannot make a mistake, it was wired wrong from the factory. In fact, all three PCI-e cables were. I reached out to NZXT and will see what they say. So, now I connected the Corsair SFX PSU back and it kind of slightly hangs from the CPU cable half in the air, in the case's basement, without me being able to screw this SF PSU into the back bottom of the case. , I built my own PCs for about 19ish years, this is the first time when the pins are... misspinned :0 First time I buy an NZXT product too (in fact three products) and immediately a fluke? Duh... I am very much looking forward to NZXT's response. Titanfall 2 2026 02 16 14 09 48 01
