SOUNDBITE: (Farsi) Fereydoun Kochakian, Painter: "My style is inspired by neither European styles nor classic Iranian painting style. Of course, you can find sort of inspiration from all these styles in my works but they are mostly result of my own feelings rooted inside me. I have been living with the feelings which I then put to paint. When I paint something on the ceiling, the feelings I may have that day such as happiness, negativity, sadness or anxiety will all be reflected in my painting. However, I always try to be good so that this goodness will be reflected in my works." 7. Pan of baby angels' painting on ceiling 8. Tilt-up of Fereydoun looking at his painting on ceiling 9. SOUNDBITE: (Farsi) Fereydoun Kochakian, Painter: "I have always seen all children as angels. Children are angels indeed because they are sinless. It might have been my strongest motive for painting my inner child. At first, I drew on drawing boards but later I realised that I could better reflect the angelic nature of children with some kind of emotion, so I decided to paint on ceilings. This feeling came from my sense of cinematography because I am a filmmaker too. I believe my main intention was to paint the baby inside me on the ceiling." 17. I do not tell them before hand what I am going to paint and they agree to this. Most of them have seen my past works but my new paintings are always different to previous ones. They have never been similar to each other, though my style is distinct and everybody would say that it was painted by me." 28. Various of Fereydoun looking at painting LEAD IN: You might call him the 'Michaelangelo' of Iran..... an Iranian painter who has taken to free-style painting on ceilings and walls. His clientele is rich and educated, and is well receptive to his style. STORYLINE: Fereydoun Kochakian has found that painting on canvas inhibits his artistic sense, however ceilings and walls, he says, allow him to express his inner most thoughts and feelings. 48 year old Kochakian likes to involve himself in a variety of modes of expression, from painting to film directing and poetry.
