It can revive fallen enemies and use PSI Starstorm omega too. You shouldn't really use PSI at all. Physical attacks do the work just fine. You'd want to have all the PP you can get for the final boss. Lastly, the enemies have some nice drops. The Wild 'n Wooly Shambler drops Multi-Bottle Rockets every 8/128 chance (I know, still low) and the Bionic Kraken drops the Gutsy Bat (1/128...still very low).
