Beginning on December 8th 2025, the (F) and (M) trains will swap routes between Manhattan and Queens. the (M), which runs downs 53rd Street, will swap with the (F) train, which runs down 63rd Street. The change was made to provide better reliability on the 63rd Street line, which commonly saw packed trains during the rush hour. It was also made to remove the crossover at the 36th Street junction in Queens. This change also saw the discontinuation of the F Diamond service on 63rd Street, as well as the (M)/(V) combo service which was implemented back in June of 2010.
