Welcome to Trousertown - How it all started for Hebtroco

Filmed during 2016 when Brant and Ed first set up Hebtroco. A short film documenting the very start of it all. It was an idea in the pub: Beers were sunk, a factory found and a handshake made. We’d discovered that Hebden Bridge – where we live – used to be known as Trousertown – as it made more pairs of pants than anywhere in the world. “Is it still possible to make really good clothes here?” we thought “and would people actually buy them?” Neither of us had any experience in clothing manufacture, but we’d been wearing trousers all our lives so that had to count for something, right? In reality, our self-appointed mission to reboot Trousertown was short-lived. The Hebden Bridge factory that made our first trousers was too far gone in its journey to closure. Destined instead to become a luxury apartment building. A common theme across Britain. But the time spent in our first damp and draughty corner of the trouser factory wasn’t without purpose. Something had started to happen… The working name ‘HebTroCo’ (from Hebden Trouser Company) had caught on – shit, we’re stuck with it now – and the demand for us to make more trousers was real.
