We continue to sail west through the Aegean Sea with the next goal of reaching the eastern coast of the Peloponnesus Peninsula. This episode begins with our passage from Syros to Kythnos in the Cyclades island group on October 30, 2023. It was a great day for sailing. We rest for one night and continue our passage across the Myrtoan Sea from Kythnos to Dokos, which is a part of the Saronic island group. On November 1st, we finally anchor on the north side of Gefyra and Monemvasia (on eastern coast of the Peloponnesus Peninsula), but only after first passing it up and turning back around. We were trying to be more ambitious with our timeline, but high winds delayed our passage. We sought shelter in the Monemvasia Marina and waited for our next best weather window, November 7th. If you have been following our journey, you may be aware that Carmela’s father called and asked her to be home by November 23, 2023 for the US “Thanksgiving Day” holiday. We originally planned to be home in December, so we are now on mission to get to our winter marina on a shorter timeline and then to a nearby airport to fly home. Follow along with us as we continue to sail west to our winter marina. Thanks for watching!
