Originally from Pakistan, Dr. Halima Tabani is a neurosurgery resident at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City who previously completed research fellowships in skull base and cerebrovascular neurosurgery, as well as a two-year pre-residency fellowship at Mount Sinai, before matching into the residency program. After she completes residency, Halima hopes to give back to her home country. She is currently doing an enfolded neuroendovascular surgery fellowship during her fourth-year of residency. “One of my goals is ... to give back and be involved in a mission where I’m involved in promoting neurosurgery in low resource countries like Pakistan and others, who do not have access to resources like we have here in the United States,” Dr. Halima says.
