Birstall is the first village you come to going directly north out of Leicester, if "village" is the right word for an extension of the city with about 11,000 people in it . The feeling of the place is quite different from most parts of the city, however. My dog needed to get to the vet's and it was an ideal day for a long walk. Along the way, we found some interesting buildings, road works and an out-of-control bonfire. OH, and we found the vet's.
