New to Blue Skies this year are FRÄNDER, a quartet from Sweden with a unique and mesmerizing sound, modern acoustic folk music featuring seductive harmonies and heavy grooves, creating a unique musical landscape filled with mystery and charm. Put another way, it's as if Cape Breton music tripped out in the Hall of the Mountain King. Where else are you going to hear rousing music with a title like "Sorrow of the Black Sparrow" (the third song in their set)? Siblings Natasja, Gabbi & Daniel Dluzewski were raised on a diet of classic rock in a musical family outside Uppsala, in Sweden. Meanwhile, in Estonia, their sister in-law Säde Tatar, having discovered her native bagpipe tradition at an early age, was beginning her journey into the world of folk music. Säde brought the group the second song in this set, based on an old Estonian prayer called "Silence of the Night". Frander begins their set with "Time to Come Home" a showcase for their unique and, dare we say it again, mesmerizing style. https://www.frander.se/about/ https://open.spotify.com/artist/44I6Y... ABOUT BLUE SKIES Blue Skies Music and Cultural Festival has been a happening, in the woods, for 48 years, on a beautiful natural amphitheatre in the Lanark Highlands. During COVID times the festival has not been on site but online. Why? The Blue Skies community of volunteers decided to support musicians, for whom live concerts have been closed.
