Off-pump, also known as “beating heart” surgery, means that the heart-lung machine is not used, and the heart never stops beating. This can greatly lower the post-operative length of stay in the hospital and reduce the potential for complication(s). About the Doc: Luis Dibos, M.D. is a cardiac surgeon with Bayfront Health Medical Group and chief of Cardiac Surgery at Bayfront Health Port Charlotte in Charlotte County, FL. He has a special interest in minimally invasive valve repair and replacement, stentless aortic valve replacement, beating heart surgery, and complex aortic surgery, including endovascular techniques. He performs 70 percent of his coronary artery bypass operations without the use of the heart lung machine (off pump). Since 1996, he has performed more than 6,500 cases and been involved in nearly 300 TAVR procedures. Dr. Dibos has an office conveniently located on Bayfront Health Port Charlotte's campus at 2380 Harbor Blvd. For more information, call 941-206-0325, or visit http://bit.ly/DrDibos to request an appointment online, anytime.
