Protect Yourself from Stalkerware: How to Remove It From Your Phone

A security vulnerability in a stealthy Android spyware app, Catwatchful, exposed tens of thousands of customers' personal data, including plain-text passwords. The bug, discovered by security researcher Eric Daigle, exposed the spyware app’s full database of email addresses and plaintext passwords that Catwatchful customers use to access the data stolen from their victims' phones. Catwatchful is spyware masquerading as a child monitoring app, claiming to be undetectable. It uploads the victim’s phone’s private contents to a dashboard viewable by the person who installed the app. The stolen data includes the victims’ photos, messages, and real-time location data. The app can also remotely access the live ambient audio from the phone’s microphone and capture both the front and rear phone cameras. My hot take: don't use these apps.
