LAPD Officers Confront Armed Suspect in Hollenbeck – Officer-Involved Shooting

On July 14, 2025, LAPD Hollenbeck Division officers responded to a “415 Man with a Gun” call on Spence Street. Officers encountered 26-year-old Jeremy Anthony Flores, who was seated inside a white utility van armed with what appeared to be an assault rifle. Despite repeated commands to drop the weapon, Flores refused to comply and raised the rifle, prompting an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS). After continued non-compliance, SWAT and LAFD Tactical Emergency Medical Support units were deployed. Flores was later found unresponsive and declared deceased at the scene. The rifle was determined to be an MP5-style automatic Airsoft rifle capable of firing metallic projectiles.
