Welcome to Scripps Research. We have implemented several new measures to ensure the health and safety of our on-campus research community. This video provides instructions to make your visit a productive one. Upon your arrival to Scripps Research, and before you leave your vehicle, please put on a face mask that securely covers your nose and mouth. While a variety of face masks are acceptable, please note that masks with exhalation valves do not protect people in your vicinity and therefore are not approved for use on this campus. You are required to wear your face mask at all times during your visit. With your face mask in place, you may enter a Scripps Research building, where you will have your temperature checked. If there is a line, please be patient and maintain a six-foot distance between others. Once you are inside, simply approach the self-serve temp-check kiosk and follow the instructions to position your face in front of the monitor. The kiosk will display a digital readout of your temperature and, if it is within an acceptable range, announce “temperature normal.” If your temperature is elevated, we ask that you return home and monitor your symptoms. You may see Scripps Research personnel participating in additional health screening procedures. As a visitor, you are not required to do this. Now you’re ready to use our Envoy check-in system. Before your arrival on campus, your host—the Scripps Research representative you are meeting—will have registered your appointment through Envoy and you will have received a QR code on your mobile device. Just scan the QR code on the iPad and your host will be immediately notified of your arrival. If your host has failed to register you in advance, you can self-register. Just use the touchpad to enter your name and your host’s name. Your host will be notified of your arrival and come meet you in the lobby. You’ll answer a few questions about your health and recent travel and, if your answers fall within accepted parameters, Envoy will print you a name tag. Please wear it on campus so we can welcome you by name. If you have any difficulties with the Envoy system or in reaching your host, contact Security at 858-784-2000 for assistance. While you are on campus, please practice social distancing by staying at least six feet from others. Avoid touching surfaces unnecessarily, especially frequent-contact areas such as railings, door handles and laboratory equipment. You’ll find that many doors on our campus have been outfitted with hands-free operations. And, of course, keep your mask on at all times. If you need to use the restroom while you are on campus, please abide by the following etiquette: Keep your mask on, even if you are the only one in the restroom. Don’t crowd; always remain six feet from others and wait outside the restroom if necessary until it is vacated. And please limit your activities in the restroom to just the essentials: use the toilet, wash your hands with soap and water, and leave. You’ll notice that much of the furniture in our common areas has been removed in support of our social distancing policy. We ask that you avoid congregating with others at this time to help protect the health and safety of everyone on our campus. If you need to engage in a lengthy conversation, please conduct it remotely by phone or email. Additionally, if you need to make or take a phone call while on campus that will last more than a minute, please step outside the building to do so. We’re glad you’re here at Scripps Research and hope you have a productive visit. Thank you for complying with our health and safety measures while you are on campus. We look forward to seeing you again.
