Uno stuntman o cascatore è un acrobata particolarmente esperto nel fingere cadute, tuffi, salti e scene pericolose in genere (in inglese stunts). Nei film, in particolare d'azione, i cascatori fanno da controfigura agli attori protagonisti nelle scene più pericolose. La categoria si suddivide in vari settori, tra i quali i piloti acrobatici (precision driver), esperti d'armi e combattimenti simulati (maestro d'armi), generici (per cadute, fire-stunt, impatti di vario tipo e tuffi). A stunt performer, often referred to as a stuntman, or daredevil, is someone who performs dangerous stunts, often as a career. A stunt-man, or stunt-woman, typically performs stunts intended for use in a motion pictures or dramatized television. Stunts are sometimes rigged so that, while they look dangerous, safety mechanisms are built into the performance, however, often stunts are as dangerous as they appear to be. Stunts often seen in films and television include car crashes, falls from great height, drags (for example, behind a horse) and explosions. Film and television stunt performers are often trained in martial arts and stage combat. There is an inherent risk in the performance of all stunt work in film, television and stage work; the most risk exists when performing stunts in front of a live audience. In filmed performances, visible safety mechanisms can be removed by editing. In live performances the audience can better see if the performer is genuinely doing what they claim to be doing. Daredevils are distinct from stunt performers and stunt doubles; their performance is of the stunt itself, without the context of a film or television show. Daredevils often perform for an audience. Live stunt performers include escape artists, sword swallowers, glass walkers, fire eaters, trapeze artists, and many other sideshow and circus arts. They also include motorcycle display teams and the once popular Wall of Death. The Jackass films and television series are well-known and prominent recorded examples of the act in modern cinematography. Um duplo (no Brasil dublê) é um ator que participa de cenas perigosas substituindo outros atores que não podem se machucar para não comprometer ou atrasar a produção do filme (ou de algum outro tipo de produção artística semelhante). Em filmes mais antigos, os dublês normalmente são pouco focalizados ou seus rostos não são exibidos, a finalidade disso é esconder do público que aquela cena é feita por um dublê e não pelo ator principal. Ainda hoje este método é bastante utilizado, mas as possibilidades do uso da computação gráfica em produções artísticas cresceu muito e é perfeitamente possível fazer um dublê ficar praticamente idêntico ao ator principal, a desvantagem é que computação gráfica deste nível é muito cara e sua produção é lenta. Geralmente o dublê é fisicamente semelhante ao ator que está substituindo, especialmente quando a presença de algumas características especiais se mostra necessária. Por exemplo: se o ator principal é musculoso o dublê também precisará ser para fazer uma substituição fiel, já que mesmo que este fique parcialmente de costas para a câmera será possível perceber a ausência de músculos nos braços. Un cascadeur est un artiste chargé de remplacer un acteur pour le tournage d'une scène comportant un risque de blessure ou nécessitant une habileté physique ou de pilotage particulière. Le cascadeur est généralement un athlète, un pilote ou un acrobate, spécialiste des scènes d'action. Le cascadeur peut être employé en tant que doublure d'un acteur : alors vêtu et coiffé de façon identique à l'acteur, il le remplace lors du tournage de scènes de bagarres, d'accidents, de chutes, d'incendies, etc. Chaque cascade nécessite une préparation minutieuse afin de s'assurer d'obtenir les images voulues tout en assurant la sécurité du cascadeur et de l'équipe de tournage. La plupart du temps intermittent du spectacle, le cascadeur peut travailler pour le cinéma, la télévision, les spectacles de rue, de scènes, les parcs de loisirs.
