Cooking for Dimash The Dimash USA Fan Club~Texas Chapter had a meetup March 9th in San Antonio at the home of Dear Tatyana! She & her sister, Dear Olga, graciously hosted a Kazakh cooking class for attending Dears Chona, Josie, Sara & Dana. Three guests also attended: Tatyana & Olga’s 93-year-old mother, Chona’s 16-year-old son (who took a lot of the Dears’ photos & videos) & Olga’s friend Irina, who joined the TX Chapter that day! She plays the dombra & can sing Kazakh songs! We welcome Dear Irina, and we are so happy to have her join us! Dear Kara (Dana’s daughter) made & gifted one-of-a-kind “Cooking for Dimash” aprons for the Dear cooks! Unfortunately for the Dears, Kara was unable to join us for this meetup. Our four courses of dining included: #1: Chebureki (fried empanadas), #2: Manti (steamed dumplings), #3: Plov (rice & meat), and #4: Baursaki (fried dough balls with powdered sugar)! Dears also brought side dishes & desserts. The Baursaki & desserts were served at Tatyana’s tea table with traditional Kazakh tea cups! Milk was added to the ‘Dimash’ tea, a Kazakh tradition! We then celebrated Josie’s birthday with a birthday cake & a gift! Tatyana played several Kazakh songs on her piano, & Irina accompanied her with a dombra! Tatyana, Olga, their mother, & Irina sang a Kazakh song! Olga taught Dears a Kazakh dance, and we all sang along with Dimash (thanks to TV videos!) as he was serenading us during the 6-hour-meetup! We had a fun gift exchange game, with an additional surprise drawing, thanks to Dear Michele (who could not attend the meetup) who donated gifts she brought back from Kazakhstan when she attended the Stranger concert and Nomad games! Dear Josie wore a traditional Kazakh takiya hat, gifted by Michele for Josie’s birthday! It goes well with the dombra Josie ordered from Kazakhstan & brought to the meetup! Thank you to Dear Tatyana for wonderfully hosting us in her lovely home, & to her Dear sister, Olga, for assisting with the Kazakh cooking class and for dancing and singing to Kazakh music! It was a wonderful day celebrating Dimash’s & our members’ Kazakhstan heritage & learning Kazakh traditions! #dimashusafanclubtxchapter Dimash Qudaibergen Social Media Links: Please Subscribe and Follow!
