A demonstration video originally made for a beginners acrylic course in February 2019. The video consists of a number of real-time clips, so when you see me painting, the video is not speeded up. The clips are edited so you don't sit through me having a cup of tea or sitting thinking! Total painting time was about an hour from start to finish. I painted on a 30cm square canvas board using Jackson's (UK) studio quality acrylic paints (https://www.jacksonsart.com/jackson-s.... I attempted to paint in the manner of Monet using an underpainting and then dabbing thicker paint, often pure pigment, over the top. It's interesting when trying to replicate a painting such as this just how much white paint is used. Monet famously used a quite restricted palette. Research by the National Gallery in London suggests Monet would have used only white, cobalt violet, viridian green, cobalt blue, French ultramarine, vermillion (red), cadmium yellow and zinc yellow in similar paintings.
