I tuned my synth to the harmonic series and solved the wolf fifth problem in a new way!

The dynamic tranposing demonstrated in this video with the Plastic Pitch charts an alternate path around the problem of how to modulate to any key without ending up with a wolf fifth. Tuning to harmonics that are near the beginning of the harmonic series produces pitches that are literally harmonious, but most keyboard instruments are not tuned that way because, as shown in the video, you end up with wolf fifths that sound particularly dissonant. In this video, the Plastic Pitch receives MIDI from the Arturia Keystep and Novation Launchpad. The Plastic Pitch responds by transmitting MIDI that (micro)tunes and plays the Dave Smith Instruments (Sequential) Tetra/Tetr4 synth. Of course, other MIDI controllers and/or other MIDI synths/modules would work with this setup. Transposing with the Plastic Pitch also works with other scales. In this case, the Plastic Pitch performs its tuning and transposing with a 12-tone scale derived from the 17th through 32nd harmonics divided by 16.
