This is my cover attempt of "Sanctuary". This calming and centering piece is one of my favorites by R.D. King. Like the characters in a series compared to a movie it took me a little while to get to a point of "understanding" R.D. King's intricate music. It is fingerstyle guitar music, obviously, but it wasn't quite like anything I have heard before at the time I found his music 2-3 years ago. However, I was captured immediately after listening to the quite surreal "The Lightness of Being" which is something else visually (looking at the fingerings / patterns) and musically. Today, after having listened to his transporting musical journeys a number of times already my appreciation for his craft is rising higher still. Especially after learning some of his music which evidently is a process that connects one with the artist and music on a more profound level. One begins to value the subtleties and finer details and comes up with their own story for the given piece in their minds. Well, at least thats how my brain functions. Hope you enjoy this cover...of Sanctuary...🧘🏽 Despite the atmosphere of the scene on that bench looking quite cozy and all it was a rather chilly 8 °C / 46,4 °F which is not ideal when playing and recording something like this. Had this a number of times in my videos already, rather cold summer mornings. Anyway this explains some of the shakyness in the finger positioning, especially in the beginning. Also could be because I'm never warmed-up and always nervous shooting a music video. But who cares, really. Did what I could and am quite happy with the outcome. What do you think?
