For over 50 years, Stamford Hospital has sponsored an ACGME-accredited program residency program in Internal Medicine. Stamford Hospital is a 305-bed Level 2 trauma center serving culturally and socio-economically diverse patient populations throughout Fairfield (CT) and Westchester (NY) counties and has been recognized as Stamford Health is recognized as Great Place to Work-Certified™ institution. Collaborating in tightly-knit teams, our House Staff members launch their careers in a supportive and inclusive learning environment that emphasizes wellness, diversity and clinical excellence, and that is shaped by our Planetree philosophy of person-centered care. Residents hone their clinical knowledge and skills in a “best of both worlds” environment that uniquely combines intensive clinical training in small, tightly-knit teaching teams with state-of-the-art and affiliations with world-class academic medical centers, including Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) and the Dana-Faber Cancer Institute. Many of our graduates go on to prestigious fellowships while others pursue careers as hospitalists or in primary care, often remaining in the community as members of our medical staff.
