A discussion on the process of developing new research on Sturge-Weber and Port-Wine Birthmarks, highlighting how many researchers collaborate for a greater cause. Dr. Doug Marchuk is a James B. Duke Distinguished Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Professor of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Director, Duke University Program in Genetics and Genomics, Director, Center for Experimental Genetics, Professor of Cell Biology, and Member of the Duke Cancer Institute. Genetics of Vascular Malformations. A large part of our research program is the investigation of the genetics and pathobiology of vascular malformations. Dr. Kristen Kelly is the chair of the department of dermatology at the UCI School of Medicine. She is Professor of Dermatology and of Surgery at UCI School of Medicine and is a clinical researcher at UCI Beckman Laser Institute & Medical Clinic. Her clinical interests include cutaneous vascular lesions, dermatologic laser surgery, general dermatology, Sturge-Weber syndrome, and port-wine stains.
