*New Bells* SN 402 Leads CSRM Excursion Train South - Q Street Pedestrian Crossing, Sacramento CA

(Filmed March 16, 2024) So today was the first day of the 2024 CSRM Excursion Train season and my first stop was here at the Q Street Pedestrian Crossing. Some area/ parking access were limited because of the St. Patricks Day festivities. I only had plans to catch the first excursion train run as I knew foot traffic was going to pick up soon. Anyways I setup on this side as I haven’t done so before. Another reason being at this spot was to see if the WRRS mechanical bell on the close was either replaced or fixed. Sure enough it was resolved with a Safetran Hybrid Bells that is most likely reused from the Capitol Mall crossing. The last time we had a hybrid bell in the Sacramento area was 17th Street (SACRT). As a matter of fact the left bell was also replaced with a GS Type-3 from the GS Type-2. As for the engine it was Sacramento Northern 402 leading. This is my first time catching 402 especially since this is its first time running in 10-15 years. I’ll admit I was anticipating Granite Rock 10. This crossing is a CSRM and SSRR early 2000s install with changes to its bells. SN 402 EMD SW1 Make sure to comment, like, and subscribe.
