Volume 6 of Behind The Sound on the Audi TT S reveals the completed sound system upgrade, featuring an incredible 12" sub! Make sure you enter our huge 10k subscriber giveaway: • Видео This Audi TT S with an incredible chameleon wrap is in the workshop for a complete audio transformation, with an EPIC amount of bass. The new system includes a 12" Sub, 2 amplifiers and a processor, all of which need to be housed within a rather small cabin. So far in this series of Behind The Sound, we have shown you through the products being installed as part of this system, as well as the importance of soundproofing and the build process to fit these powerful components and the huge 12" sub into this Audi TT S. The new sound system features an array of Hertz speakers, powered by both Audison and Hertz amplifiers. The Hertz MPK165P.3 two way component kit in the front end upgrades the dashboard mounted tweeters and door mounted 6.5" drivers, which offer much better clarity and midbass within the cockpit of the vehicle. The rear speakers are entirely disconnected, and a 12" subwoofer is being installed into the boot. The power from this system comes from a Hertz Mille Legend 4 amplifier, which powers the front end fully active, with the Audison Voce Uno providing huge power to the subwoofer. The Audison Bit Nove processor allows us to completely set up, time align and tune the system to make the most of the new components for the customers music tastes. Housing these components is a tricky job in quite a small car. Due to the size of the sub box required for the 12" sub to operate correctly, we are creating a custom raised boot build with an all new floor to house the system, while also having it visible. The sub box is the central piece of the build, with the amplifiers mounted either side and on show. The Bit Nove is then below the sub in the smaller gap to the boot lid. Building this requires a high level of skill and knowledge, especially in the time frames we have available. In this video we join Lewis in the fabrication room to run through the build process, and the different considerations involved in both the layout and also the volume of the housings required for optimal performance, but maintaining access to the battery. The sub box has been created in a shallow but long form, to allow the correct volume for this huge sub to perform at its best. The height of the box was dictated by the boot size in this TT, so is a bespoke shape compared to what you might find in a larger car. This then created a formation for the housing where the amps and processor will be mounted, to be presentable while fitting around the battery. We then created a "beauty panel" to act as a floor that sits just higher than the components, so they are on display, but still protected. This is finished off with an access panel for the battery, with the audi S logo embossed within it. Once the install is complete, we tune the system in a variety of ways. Initially when the components are installed, we set up a safety tune that protects the speakers while they bed in and components are set up. We then utilise the BitTune kit to electronically equalize and time align the system. BitTune utilises a combination of software and microphones placed within the car to measure the performance of each speaker based on the listener's position. We then manually fine tune the set up of each system based on the customers audio tastes as the last step before completion. Thanks for watching our video.
