What is the Best Tripod Head for Real Estate Photography? If you are shooting Real Estate or architectural photos, a geared head is the perfect tool. A geared head is much more precise and great for long lenses, but it's not as fast as a ballhead. Turning the knobs and gears is slow, that's why it's so precise. You have the ability to pull out the nobs and adjust your setup much faster, but a ballhead still beats it in speed. Options for Geared Tripod Heads: 1. It's beautifully designed and weighs much less than the Manfrotto option. The D4 can also hold up to 34kg which is simply incredible. You could comfortably put on a large format camera system and have no issues at all.
