GAKKEN LCD PINBALL 1980 REVIEW AND GAMEPLAY
This was possibly the earliest top quality LCD pinball game released way back in 1980, it was a pocket sized portable game, and signalled the new wave of electronic games that were smaller and more practical as they could be played on the move. Previous to this electronic pinball games had been large tabletop units such as Wildfire. Pinball machines were still very popular in arcades at the time as mega hits such as Pacman and Space invaders had just been released and the massive swap to arcade machines rather than pinball machines hadn't yet taken hold. Gakken Pinball was an important piece of gaming history as it bridges the gap between pinball and arcade, and also bridged the gap between portable and table top gaming. So really was ahead of its time and must have seemed space age back in 1980.
