China Chen has been in operation since 1983, and was one of the first Vietnamese restaurants to have opened in San Jose. It's called 'China' Chen because the founders were from the Chinese district of Ho Chi Minh City. China Chen serves up the most authentic egg noodle soup (mì), I highly recommend the #10 (egg noodle soup with shrimp wontons and BBQ pork)! They also have amazing appetizers subh as whole fried chicken, fried flour cake with egg (bánh bột chiên trứng), fried shrimp wontons, and more! And I highly recommend their Iced Viet Coffee & Soda with Lime and Plum (soda chanh xí muội). The food at China Chen is reminiscent of Vietnam. In fact, elders often come eat at China Chen and mention the food here reminds them of Vietnam. So if you want authentic Vietnamese food, you've got to come to China Chen! 💡 Protip: They validate parking (either 90-120 mins) if you park at the garage on 2nd & San Carlos.
