As a pre-vet student, she gained experience working in a research laboratory, a small animal clinic, and a primate research facility. Dr. Starnes vividly remembers the application process to veterinary school and the mentors who guided her along the way. Driven by a desire to replicate the excellent support she received, she has been mentoring and coaching students since her graduation, leveraging the popularity of her clinic for hosting veterinary students. Several pre-vet students have also sought her guidance, and she has helped numerous students navigate the admissions process. Catherine Aaronson Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine Catherine attended a top private school for high school in the Kansas City area and was a double letterman, captain of the Pom Squad, and a nationally recognized Speech and Debate champion. She attended the University of Tulsa in Oklahoma on merit and grade-based scholarships. During her time in undergrad, she completed her Bachelor of Biology (pre-med) with minors in chemistry and creative writing. Catherine was deeply involved on campus, serving as President and Vice President of various clubs, a University Ambassador, and Executive Director of Springfest. She graduated with honors and successfully defended her research project on elder abuse in America. Catherine describes herself as a highly empathetic, understanding, and patient coach, with a long history of mentorship. Her diverse experiences and achievements allow her to see beyond the traditional applicant and pinpoint unique characteristics that help them stand out in the application process.
