Here are several videos taken on August 1, 2022, featuring MTA Long Island Railroad at Penn Station! On this day, Budd Company M3 cars re-entered service after being taken out of service nearly 2 years ago (back in August 2020). The 12-car train seen in this video ran out of service to New York Penn Station, before being assigned to train 1054 to Wantagh on the Babylon Branch. The M3 cars were built in the mid-1980s, and were initially retired in August 2020 after reductions in service. However, subsequent increases in service and delays in the Kawasaki LIRR M9 order have required the return of 100 of the cars. Trivially, 20 of the 100 cars do not have PTC; they are marked with yellow stripes by the cabs and cannot lead or trail in a train.
