LEADIN: This year's Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS) is smaller than ever before, reflecting the economic downturn in the country. But analysts hope the excitement of the Jakarta event will fuel the market and kickstart car sales. STORYLINE: This Alfa Romeo is turning heads at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS). The 4C coupe is the Italian car maker's lightweight, rear wheel drive re-entry to the US market - and is important for Alfa Romeo. It uses a carbon fibre body and hybrid rear frame using aluminium to help bring the weight in at just 895 kilograms (1,973lb). This is one of stars of the IIMS in a much reduced show as a result of the economic downturn in the Asian country. Only 19 car brands attended this year - including Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Alfa Romeo, Jeep, Toyota, Honda and Mini. Last year 40 car makers and 18 motorcycle makers participated. Dimas Ibrahim Aska, an automotive analyst, says that IIMS is one way to increase the passion of the automotive market in Indonesia.
