The hike begins with the Bear Lake Loop, a 0.7-mile stroll around the lake, before continuing on the out-and-back trail to Emerald Lake. The route from the trailhead to Emerald Lake and back is approximately 3.6 miles, making the total distance including the Bear Lake Loop about 4 miles. The route climbs from around 9,475 feet at the Bear Lake Trailhead to 10,111 feet at Emerald Lake, for a total elevation gain of roughly 700 feet. This hike was completed on November 11, 2025.
