On day 4 of my 100 km snowshoe trip through the Italian Dolomites, I attempted to summit Piz Boè (10,335 feet) in a day. A late start and an impending storm forced me to turn back just before sunset, but I still got to enjoy amazing views, a great journey, and an excellent meal at the end of the day. #dolomites #italy #snowshoeing #hiking #solohiking Some advice: 1. Start as early as you can. In winter, you have limited daylight, and descents can be dangerous in the dark. 2. Mind the avalanche conditions and the rockfall on this route. I saw some rocks come down the cliffs and explode on impact. 3. Pay attention to the weather forecast. I was originally considering camping on the summit, but an impending snowstorm would have made this a very dangerous idea.
