Bode George was speaking in respect of the violence that had erupted in some local government headquarters in Rivers State on Monday October 7 after the peace local government elections held in the state on Saturday, October 5, 2024. The elder statesman warned that what is happening in Rivers State if not contained could truncate democracy like the Western Region crisis of 1962-4, which led to the 1966 coup, counter coup and the civil war between 1967-1970 in which over 2 million lives was lost.
