Archaeology and Bioarchaeology of Apollonia Pontica - Project 2023 (Balkan Heritage Field School)

Balkan Heritage Field School project: "Apollonia Pontica Archaeology Field School " in Bulgaria, conducted by the Balkan Heritage Foundation. Apollonia Pontica Excavation Project combines an archaeological dig and a field school - part of the Balkan Heritage Field School Program. It takes place in Sozopol (ancient Apollonia Pontica) and Debelt. The first part of the field school will be conducted at the "Archaeological Reserve with Museum - Deutum" in Debelt (approx. 20 km from Burgas) where the facilities provide suitable conditions for lab work. The second part of the field school will be conducted in Sozopol, located on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast. It provides to students combination of: a hands-on experience in excavation of Ancient Greek, Hellenistic and Byzantine site, finds' processing and documentation, study tours to sites of historical significance. Balkan Heritage Field School (BHFS) is an educational program of the Balkan Heritage Foundation in the fields of archaeology, art history and historic preservation.
