Lisa Naples’ journey with clay is a testament to her dedication and creativity. Her exhibit, Lisa Naples: Grounded in Gold, showcases her evolution from creating functional pottery to exploring abstract and narrative sculptures. The exhibit draws on the symbolism of gold, representing what is sacred and precious, and features works that reflect a wide range of human experiences, from tenderness to estrangement. Lisa Naples operates a robust teaching studio (Lisa Naples Clay Studio) in the heart of Frenchtown, NJ (also home to her private studio). In 2025 she received a NJ State Council on the Arts, Individual Artist Fellowship in conjunction with Mid Atlantic Arts. It is also in 2025 that Weywot Films will release a full-length documentary on Lisa and her process in the studio making the work for Grounded In Gold: her solo show at the James A. Michener Art Museum in Doylestown, PA. (May 24-Nov. 23, 2025). Her work is published in many books including the 2024 release of: The Complete Guide to Low Fire Glazes for Potters and Sculptors. In this volume, Lisa’s custom satin-clear glaze is celebrated as a staple for the Low-mid fire temperature range. Lisa has shown her work numerous times at both The Smithsonian and The Philadelphia. Museum of Art Craft Shows, “Using The Sun to find North” was a 2020 solo show at The Clay Studio in Philadelphia. Lisa’s work has been exhibited across the US in juried exhibitions over a span of 40 years. She has lectured and given workshops in much of the US.
