In this video, I’ll show you step-by-step how to replace the thermostat on a 2012 Renault Megane 3 (1.5 dCi engine). If your car is taking too long to warm up, the temperature gauge is dropping while driving, or you're experiencing poor cabin heating, a stuck thermostat is likely the culprit. This is a very doable DIY job that can save you a trip to the mechanic and keep your engine running at the optimal temperature. Clean all the coolant system with clean water, let it circulate for at least 100km. The drop all the water and refill with ANTIFREEZE. In Renaults, the "Check ESC" and "Check Hill Start Assist" messages almost always appear together and are rarely caused by a failure in the braking system itself. Instead, they are usually secondary warnings triggered by an engine fault. In my situation, I found out that spilling water on the gearbox connectors is what set off both of these warnings.
