On September 2nd, Vietnam celebrates National Day. This is the anniversary of when Ho Chi Minh stood in Ba Dinh square in Hanoi and read the declaration of independence of Vietnam after many years of French rule. This year, in 2025, it is the 80th anniversary of that historic event. The city of Hanoi is planning a huge celebration including parades, exhibitions, firework displays and more to showcase the country's achievements, encourage national pride and look towards a bright future. The event is on such a scale that there are three rehearsals taking place in the city. The historic Old Quarter and many of the city's main roads are closed on each of these days. Thousands of locals packed the streets to see the rehearsals!
