K1ULS, P1ULS Knit 1 under loose strand, Purl 1 under loose strand. This is primarily used as a decorative stitch in knitting. K1ULS means you will knit one (or you will knit more stitches f the number is different) under a loose strand. This stitch used with SL and WYIF to create a decorative stitch. So with the loose strand at the front of your work you will take your knitting needle moving from under the strand from the right to the left to pick it up. You will then knit the next stitch on the knitting needle bringing the new stitch through both the old stitch and the strand just picked up. P1ULS is used with SLK and WYIB. It is less common than K1ULS but the same principle applies. You will pick up the strand purl the next stitch and pass that new stitch through the old stitch and the strand that was picked up.
