Today on the Morning Show, we turn our spotlight to the “Land of Virtue", where the political chessboard is being aggressively redrawn ahead of the August 15 governorship poll in Osun State. In a dramatic twist, the Osun chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially declared total support for the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke. But here’s the political curveball — Adeleke is no longer a PDP member. After defecting to the Accord Party to secure his second-term ticket, the governor now stands as an “adopted” candidate backed by his former party. The PDP Endorsement Osun PDP Chairman Sunday Bisi has directed all party structures, from polling units to the state executive, to mobilize fully for Adeleke’s victory under the Accord platform. The directive signals a strategic alliance designed to consolidate grassroots strength and avoid splitting the opposition vote. Internal Friction Erupts However, the endorsement has triggered resistance from a PDP caretaker committee appointed by the national leadership. The committee has rejected the adoption, describing it as “null and void” and insisting that only the party’s national structure can authorise such political alignments. This internal clash raises a major question: is the Osun PDP acting out of political survival instinct, or is it risking a full-blown leadership crisis within the party? Legislative Mass Exit The political realignment deepened this week as 25 out of 26 members of the Osun State House of Assembly reportedly defected to the Accord Party to follow the governor. In addition, six members of the House of Representatives also dumped the PDP. The defections have significantly weakened the PDP’s elective strength in the state, effectively hollowing out its institutional dominance and reshaping the power equation ahead of the polls. Accord Party Turmoil Yet, even within Adeleke’s new political home, calm is not guaranteed. Reports of internal leadership tussles have emerged, with factional campaign posters surfacing for other aspirants, including Clement Kolawole. This raises fresh concerns about unity within the Accord Party and whether the governor’s coalition can remain intact until election day. #OsunPolitics #AdemolaAdeleke #OsunElection #PDP #AccordParty #PoliticalDefection #GovernorshipPoll #Osun2026 #NigeriaPolitics #SouthwestPolitics #ElectionBattle #PartyCrisis #PoliticalAlliance #LegislativeDefection #OsunState #ElectionWatch #NigeriaElections #GovernorshipRace #PoliticalRealignment #HouseOfAssembly #NigeriaDemocracy #CampaignSeason #PoliticalDrama #OsunUpdate #ElectionCountdown #PartyLeadership #NigeriaNews #BreakingPolitics #StatePolitics #PoliticalStrategy #OsunGovernorship #ElectionAnalysis #PartyConflict #PoliticalShift #NigeriaCurrentAffairs #CampaignTrail #PoliticalTension #GovernanceWatch #ElectionFocus #OppositionPolitics #PoliticalMovement #NigeriaUpdate #ElectionTalk #GovernanceMatters #PoliticalPower #OsunAssembly #ElectionCoverage #NigeriaReports #PoliticalTrend #StateElection #CampaignUpdate #NigeriaHeadline #PartyPolitics #PoliticalArena #ElectionSeason #OsunPoliticalScene #NigeriaPoliticalUpdate #CampaignAnalysis #LeadershipBattle #PoliticalForum #ElectionAlert #NigeriaPoliticalNews #PartyAlliance #PoliticalReform #GovernorshipContest #OsunLeadership #ElectionPreview #NigeriaGovernanceWatch #PoliticalDebate #ElectionInsight #OsunVotes #NigeriaPoliticalAnalysis #LeadershipCrisis #PoliticalNetwork #ElectionMonitor #NigeriaDemocraticProcess #GovernorshipUpdate #PoliticalBrief #ElectionSpotlight #NigeriaPoliticsToday #OsunAffairs #PartyLeadershipCrisis #ElectionCoverageTV #NigeriaPolicy #PoliticalDiscussion #Election2026 #OsunNews #GovernanceDebate #PoliticalWatch #StateGovernance #ElectionDiscussion #NigeriaFocus #PoliticalDevelopments #CampaignNews #DemocracyInNigeria #OsunRace #PoliticalStructure #ElectionUpdate #NigeriaLeadership
