Welcome back to Bagendon, Gloucestershire – a peaceful Cotswold village just north of Cirencester, filmed at 6 AM on 15 July 2025. This early summer morning offered a tranquil 18 °C temperature, soft golden light, and the timeless charm that so many of you asked to see again. Bagendon may be small today, but it holds huge historical significance. Just west of the village lies one of Britain’s most important Iron Age oppida—a large pre-Roman settlement that suggests this area was a thriving political and trade centre around 100 BC–AD 43, even before Roman Cirencester (Corinium) was founded. By medieval times, Bagendon had evolved into a typical rural parish. The beautiful St. Margaret’s Church, with parts dating back to the 12th century, still stands at the heart of the village, surrounded by ancient yews and stone cottages built from the classic honey-coloured Cotswold limestone. Why this walk is so special? Back by request – Many of you asked me to return, and I’m so glad I did. Early calm – At 6 AM, it’s just birdsong, breeze, and the crunch of gravel underfoot. Layered history – From Iron Age roots to Saxon pathways, Bagendon whispers of every era.
