In this video, I create two completely different portrait looks in one shoot using the same light setup and the same time frame. The only change was turning the Lindsay Adler Optical Spot on and off while using the Westcott FJ400. No lights were moved, no re-positioning, and no extra setup time. This was filmed as a school lighting project, but the technique applies directly to real portrait sessions, studio work, and teaching lighting fundamentals. It’s a simple way to show how modifiers and light control can dramatically change mood, contrast, and storytelling without slowing down your shoot. If you’re a student, educator, or photographer looking to improve efficiency and understand light shaping better, this is a practical lighting exercise you can repeat in any studio.
