Anatolian Hieroglyphs are one of the most enigmatic scripts of the ancient world. Used in the Late Bronze Age and the Early Iron Age in Anatolia to write the Luwian language, these hieroglyphs have puzzled scholars for over a century. In this talk, I will explain the intricacies of this fascinating writing system and tell the story of its decipherment. We will look at several inscriptions and even try to read them! OLGA OLINA Olga is a Sanskrit teacher, historical linguist, and supporter of linguistic diversity. Her research interests include language endangerment, typology, and language documentation. She is enchanted by grammars of obscure languages and works as a language coder at Grambank, a joint project MPI in Jena and Nijmegen. Presently, Olga is learning Hieroglyphic Luwian, Modern Greek and Yucatec Maya.
