My brother, Ben, and I bikepacked the Roundabout Brattleboro bikepacking route from Bikepacking.com. We rode it in 3 days, went counter clockwise, and cut out a couple sections in the interest of time. This was Ben's first bike packing trip, and he rode his Specialized RockCombo, one of the original "gravel" bikes. We rigged up an old roll of tubeless tape to protect his front canti brake cable and keep his handlebar dry bag in place. I rode my Santa Cruz Chameleon C in a "gravel packing" configuration with alt. bars (Velo Orange Seine bars with clamped inner bar-ends) and 700x50 tires. We dealt with a little rain but nothing too dramatic and thankfully had no mechanicals. There was a bit of logging and blowdown to get over, and we each flopped over in the mud once or twice. We used hipcamp.com to find a site for our first night, and spent the second night in the Green Mountain National Forest. If you plan to ride this route, the section of NF with abundant camping options is SOUTH of Stratton Arlington rd. The northern section has very limited flat, open areas for a tent. All in all this is an excellent bike packing route that is mostly gravel bike friendly with a couple smaller, more technical sections that are likely to slow down anything less capable than a hardtail with Mtb tires. I was glad I ran my gravel wheels rather than my 27.5+ Mtb wheels as I felt the efficiency on 90% of the route was worth going a little slower on the few bumpy bits.
