Just west of Westwood, California near New Chester Dump Road CalFire conducted a firing operation to back burn timber and brush in hopes of stopping the Dixie Fire on the North side of Highway 36. Massive flames shooting hundreds of feet in the air could be seen as firefighters worked the fire line. On the outskirts of Taylorsville, California fire could be seen backing down a mountain near North Valley Rd and Diamond Mountain Road. Fire crews were at stationed all along the roads to try and stop the fire at the roadway. Just north of Westwood on Mooney Road Firefighters could be seen working fire lines along the railroad tracks and in roadways. The Dixie Fire has burned 552,589 acres and is 31% contained as of 20:59 on August 14th. The fire is currently burning in four counties (Tehama, Butte, Plumas and Lassen). There are currently 14,956 structures threatened and 1,120 destroyed. There have been three reported injuries to First Responders. Currently there are 570 Engines, 173 Water Tenders, 20 Helicopters, 91 Hand Crews, 198 Dozers and 6,550 personnel are assigned to the fire.
