For today's tasting David Allen MW, our Wine Director has managed to track down a bottle of wine from the island of Pico in the Azores. The wine is made by António Maçanita of the Azores Wine Company, Antónioruns the company along with his partners Filipe Rocha and Insula Vinus. the company has 55 hectares of their own vines and takes fruit from a further 71 hectares. The company's winery is recently completed at a cost of €3 million. The company's annual production is around 100,000 bottles. The winery's top wine Vinhas dos Utras retails at €240 per bottle!
