Narrative Summary Last session, you lured the lair’s shark with a severed fish-man leg, hauled it in, and finished it with a trident before prying out teeth and shouldering rescued villagers. In another cavern you found two more captives; Jellico’s Oi, Binky ruined surprise, but Thelgrum and Jasper bloodied the lone guard before it slipped away. You freed the pair and rifled a sailor’s chest: a collapsible spyglass, a working compass, rope, brandy, a Harvest Bay sea chart, and a magical scroll you couldn’t read. Warwick found a hidden cache of fifty antique doubloons. Tracking fresh flipper-prints toward the exit, you walked into a three-strong sea devil ambush. Ulric charged; Thelgrum and Jasper fired; the Barber’s crossbow string snapped in the wet, and later his thrown razor struck Jasper by mistake. Even so, your blades told, and Warwick reached past the shield wall to spear the last fish-man clean through. With tide too high to swim in armor, you camped in a drier cave, cooked shark steaks, and cut open bellies that yielded a brass astrolabe, a tarnished silver chalice, and a beautifully scrimshawed whale tooth showing tentacles gripping a familiar bay. When the water turned, you rowed out, returned to Harvest Bay, and tallied the cost: nineteen villagers accounted for at last, seven alive and twelve gone. The grateful Smiths let you strip rope and supplies from their ruined store, and the ravine map you’d already unearthed pointed you toward the Windborn tomb that now beckoned next. ----------------------------- Blow by Blow Breakdown Culling the Shark and Pushing On Baited a net with a severed sea devil leg, hauled a baby shark in, and killed it with crossbow and trident. Took shark teeth for trophies and meat for rations. Formed a shoulder-ride column for rescued villagers as the tide rose from chest-deep toward neck-deep. Rescue and Riches in the Weed-Littered Chamber Found two more villagers guarded by a lone sea devil; Jellico shouted a warning, losing surprise. Thelgrum’s bolt and Jasper’s stone bloodied the guard before it dove and fled. Freed the captives and looted a sailor’s chest: spyglass, compass, rope, brandy, a Harvest Bay sea chart, and an unreadable magical scroll. Warwick revealed a hidden compartment holding 50 antique golden doubloons. Neck-Deep March and the Three-Devil Ambush Tracked wet, webbed prints toward the exit through near-neck-deep water. Ambushed by three sea devils; Ulric charged and wounded one badly. The Barber’s crossbow string snapped; later his thrown straight razor struck Jasper by accident. Warwick reached past the line and impaled the last sea devil with a trident; none escaped to destroy the boats. Waiting Out the Tide and Grisly Finds Retreated to a drier cave, lit a fire, and cooked shark steaks. Cut open shark bellies and recovered a brass astrolabe, a tarnished silver chalice, and a scrimshawed sperm-whale tooth etched with tentacles at a familiar bay. Return to Harvest Bay and What Comes Next Rowed out once the tide turned; boats were intact. Final tally: 19 villagers accounted for—12 dead, 7 rescued (including Gertrude, Jenny, the Smiths, and the cellar survivor). The Smiths offered supplies; you took ropes, tools, and essentials from their ruined store. Your earlier altar-find—a ravine map pointing to a tomb—set your next aim toward the Windborne mystery.
